  • WWII airman Clifford Keeney, killed in 1944 when his B-17 was shot down over Germany, was laid to rest in York County after DNA testing identified his remains—providing final honor to a local hero.  FOX43

CULTURE NEWS

  • Nominations for the Appalachian Trail Hall of Fame Class of 2026 are open until Jan. 31+ museum president Larry Luxenberg said the award honors people who helped build, maintain or promote the 2,190-mile trail+ inductees will be named in April and celebrated at Ironmaster’s Mansion in Pine Grove Furnace State Park.  FOX43

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • More than half a million hunters will join Pennsylvania's deer rifle season—starting on Sunday and lasting two weeks.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A new state law now allows deer hunting with rifles on Sunday—this change, signed by Governor Shapiro, extends the two-week season that began Saturday and is expected to draw more than 500,000 hunters; local processor Bill Wagaman in Hanover reported a busy Sunday that benefits those who work six days a week.  FOX43

  • Edwin Soto, owner of E & G Heating and Cooling, said failing batteries, old air filters, and blocked vents are the main issues behind malfunctioning heating systems in Central PA as a cold front nears; he urged residents to inspect their heaters and test carbon monoxide detectors to prevent dangerous conditions.  Local 21 News
