Nate Davidson presented a $25,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to founding board member Kate Lally at a ceremony Wednesday morning—money that will pay for a new computer system and tools not received as donations. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ More than 70 streetlights are out in downtown Harrisburg due to an underground electrical issue, and city officials are working with PPL Electric Utilities (the lights are not their property) to restore power. Crews will return early Friday morning (after completing repairs on Market and Walnut streets) to fix the remaining outages. FOX43
- ➤ York County officials and PennDOT have prepared about 4,000 tons of salt to treat icy roads this winter—local emergency managers have set plans to work quickly and clear hazards along both major and small-town roads. FOX43
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Pennsylvania closed several psychiatric hospitals to boost community care but since 2015 has stopped closing beds and spent over $175 million on treatment for people with minor charges. Local officials say this shift has left counties with fewer funds to build proper support—undermining the promise of community mental health care. Spotlight PA
