EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ HACC’s teachers union will hold a rally at 5 p.m. Tuesday outside the Farm Show Complex to demand a fair contract, warning that hundreds of staff may strike if talks fail. Negotiators stressed that cuts in wages and staffing over nearly three years could disrupt classes for about 12,000 students—concerns that both sides are set to address in further meetings. WITF

- ➤ Derry Township engineers are closing Stauffer's Church Road for six months due to safety risks from a compromised box culvert — township police said the road will be shut starting Oct. 27. The township already secured permits for a replacement project scheduled to start in summer 2026. WGAL
