  • The private funeral services for fallen officers—available via FOX43 livestream—will take place at noon today for community members to honor their sacrifice.  FOX43

  • Andrea Grove bought the North Street building where Elementary Coffee Co. is located after a team fixed a nearly collapsed structure. Neighbor Matt Krupp, who originally bought the rundown property from the redevelopment authority, said the restoration— which won a 2020 Preservation Award— shows that local effort can revive key spaces.  TheBurg

ECONOMY NEWS

  • PA Chamber CEO Luke Bernstein is promoting Made in PA products with his Coolest Thing Made in PA contest to show that local manufacturing creates jobs and helps our economy grow. He said innovative products from our state help fuel over $116 billion in economic activity (supporting local business and jobs).  Central Penn Business Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PennDOT released the 2025 State Rail Plan, setting 25-year goals for rail safety, freight and passenger service, funding, and economic growth. The plan is open for public review until Oct. 24—officials will hold a virtual public meeting on Oct. 16 for feedback.  Central Penn Business Journal
  • Lieutenant Godfrey, who was shot last week, is now recovering well and his close bond with his K9, Captain Dargo—who retired in 2023—remains a tribute to his service. A fundraiser for the York County Sheriff's K9 unit he helped form is scheduled for Oct. 5 at the York Fairgrounds with tickets at $10 for adults and $5 for children.  Local 21 News
  • The U.S. Justice Department sued six states including Pennsylvania on Thursday because they refused to provide voter registration lists with full details like a voter's full name, date of birth, address, driver's license number— and the last four digits of Social Security number. The lawsuits also target gaps in how states maintain voter rolls as part of a nationwide effort to confirm federal law is followed.  Spotlight PA

  • Sprout Organics announced a recall of four lots of its 3.5 ounce baby food pouches after tests found they may have dangerous levels of lead — the recall affects products sold at Walgreens and independent retailers in 28 states including Pennsylvania.  PennLive
