  • The Sideling Hill Service Plaza Trailhead opened Saturday morning at the Pennsylvania Turnpike plaza near Hustontown—featuring a tree shaped bike washing station designed by high school students and picnic tables built by local helpers. The $28.1M expansion project will add EV bike charging stations to support local tourism and outdoor recreation.  ABC27
  • BAPS Motor Speedway held a moment of silence—raising donations for officers and families affected by a shooting.  FOX43

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chick-Fil-A will open a new restaurant near I-81 and Progress Ave later this fall and will add 120 jobs—offering both full- and part-time positions with tuition assistance and scholarships for local job seekers.  FOX43

  • HGTV has released its list of 40 most charming small downtowns in America—York is the only Pennsylvania city named. The list points out that York is known for its factory tours and history, inviting visitors to explore.  ABC27
  • Alicia Richards, a longtime abc27 anchor with more than 31 years of service, was inducted into the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of NATAS Silver Circle Society at Saturday evening’s awards—recognizing her outstanding work in local broadcasting. EDUCATION NEWS

  • A ConsumerAffairs study published last week ranked Pennsylvania among the top 10 states for public education. The report showed that the Keystone State fell from 5th last year to 10th overall—pointing to changes in school funding and resources.  PennLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The deadline for residents to leave Tent City is today; about 20 people remain near the PennDOT building as the I-83 expansion project moves forward—law enforcement plans are still uncertain—and residents may face arrest if they do not leave.  Local 21 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The York Vikings are a new sled hockey team hosting try-it events for adaptive athletes in Central PA. They plan to join the NESHL for tournaments as the team grows and brings local competition closer to home.  FOX43
  • Pennsylvania’s statewide archery deer season will begin Oct. 4 and run until Nov. 21. Hunters in select Wildlife Management Units will start earlier and can hunt on extra Sundays under Act 36 of 2025—state parks allow Sunday hunting on Nov. 16, Nov. 23, and Nov. 30.  WGAL
