BUSINESS NEWS

  • In Dauphin County, the Cleveland Cliffs name was removed from the side of a Steelton mill and a white rectangle of fresh paint now covers the former sign; the still-idle mill paused operations in June and has affected hundreds of workers and local businesses.  WGAL
  • Wawa filed a revised land development plan for a store in Hampden Township after its earlier proposal was denied by township commissioners—this plan includes a 6049 square foot building, a deceleration lane and storm sewer modifications, and it gained planning commission support on September 19th.  PennLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pennsylvania voters preparing for the Nov 4 municipal election can apply for mail ballots online, by mail, or in person with applications due by Oct 28 and new registrations accepted until Oct 20. Voters must follow strict instructions, including using blue or black ink and returning ballots by 8 p.m. on Election Day — mistakes could lead to the ballot not being counted.  PennLive
  • Lower Paxton Township welcomed its first paid firefighters this week—ending a long reliance on volunteers. The new team is expected to boost emergency response and enhance community safety—offering residents improved fire protection.  FOX43

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nearly 400 racers took part in Hot Rod Drag Week on Monday, Sept. 15 as they completed two circuits through the Susquehanna Valley—starting at Maryland International Raceway with a checkpoint at Round the Clock Diner and finishing at Numidia Dragway before returning through the valley to stop at Maple Grove Raceway and American Speed Center.  WGAL
