COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 100 people gathered on Sunday evening in Millersburg’s Myo Park along the Susquehanna River to honor 16-year-old William Peters III—who was found dead after a three-day search and was remembered during a candlelight vigil with scripture readings and the singing of Amazing Grace.  PennLive
  • The Seal Park Disc Golf Course opened on September 13 at Seal Park located at 523 North Street with Valley Flying Discs (VFD) and Millersburg Borough hosting a free family friendly event that featured a ribbon cutting, a ceremonial first putt, beginner disc golf clinics, live music, food vendors and door prizes.  ABC27

  • Sixteen-year-old guitarist Alex Lee Warner thrilled a crowd at Rock Fest in Grantville on Sunday with a strong performance—his skill has already earned him spots on big stages in Nashville and Memphis. He continues to build his reputation as one of the top young talents in rock music.  FOX43

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Last week, The Weather Channel showed that so many spotted lanternflies flew around that their clusters looked like storm cells—this invasive bug has grown in number and can harm local crops and trees. The Department of Agriculture advises residents to squash any spotted lanternflies they see to help slow the spread.  PennLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yesterday, Pennsylvania held its first Sunday hunting under a new law signed by Gov. Josh Shapiro that now gives hunters 13 opportunities—ranging from squirrels to antlerless deer—while state parks remain limited to three dates. The law also increased trespassing penalties and permits natural deer urine as an attractant.  Local 21 News
  • PennDOT will limit westbound lanes on Cameron Street between Arsenal Boulevard and Azalea Drive today at 6 p.m.—the pavement patching work will finish Tuesday at 7 a.m. as part of a larger preservation project.  Local 21 News
  • PennDOT and city officials are reworking a $145 million plan to fix the Market Street bridge so City Island stays open—officials now plan to keep all four lanes open on some days and two lanes available during sports events. The project will start in 2027 and include a new utility bridge to move cables and ease traffic while repairs are made.  PennLive

  • Yesterday, the Lancaster Stormers reached the playoffs for the fourth time in a row when outfielder Quincy Hamilton hit a walk-off home run in the tenth inning to win 8 to 7 over the Lexington Legends — crowning them as North Division Champions.  FOX43
