  • Free Uber vouchers offered for Labor Day weekend through the Sober Ride Home program will be available in parts of the Susquehanna Valley; the vouchers, worth up to $20, will be valid from 7 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. from Friday through early Monday (Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry counties).  WGAL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Anna Carter Primary and Thomas Holtzman Elementary closed Tuesday due to a shortage of school bus drivers—The Susquehanna Township School District received notice too late to alert families and said it will work on long-term solutions.  WGAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mechanicsburg fire chief Gary Neff retired on Saturday after a 50-year career that saw him rescue civilians from blazing fires—he saved a baby and an unconscious man amid thick smoke and severe burns. Officials held a ceremony to break ground on a new fire station built to improve volunteer facilities—Neff now looks forward to spending time with his wife and visiting the station before it opens.  PennLive
