ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A deadly single-vehicle crash occurred at 2:17 a.m. Friday on southbound I-83 in Newberry Township and has caused delays near the weigh station between Exits 35 and 33 — the coroner is at the scene and the investigation is underway. WGAL
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Millersburg Area School District has started the school year with new programs including STEM, creative writing, family consumer science, and water safety classes for second graders through the local YMCA while high schoolers will take lifeguarding courses. The district also added new stadium lights and bleachers after storm damage and held an outdoor retreat to support staff—benefiting its 700 students. Local 21 News
- ➤ Over 1,200 students at four Camp Hill schools returned on Thursday, and the district introduced new measures—safety presentations and reminders to secure bikes and dismount scooters—and began AI literacy training with a secure app called Magic School AI. Local 21 News

- ➤ In 2024, Pennsylvania experienced its worst year for power outages in more than 30 years with 71 events affecting over 2.8 million customers—storms, falling trees and an aging grid led to the record outages, the state utility commission said. FOX43
- ➤ On August 22 at 10:50 a.m., Pennsylvania rejected a federal request for voter rolls with personal data—Secretary Al Schmidt said state law prevents releasing Social Security and driver’s license numbers and the state will only provide a public version that excludes sensitive details. WITF
- ➤ The Department of Agriculture announced it invested $8.8 million in Pennsylvania farms to buy development rights on 2,017 acres of 33 farms — a joint state and local effort to keep farmland from being turned to other uses. The Shapiro Administration has already helped preserve 448 farms and nearly 37,200 acres across the state, including projects in counties like Cumberland and Dauphin. ABC27
