- ➤ Pennsylvania's July report from the Department of Labor and Industry shows that the unemployment rate stayed at 4.0% while 7,100 new nonfarm jobs raised total employment to 6.24 million — the 15th month of record gains, with most growth in education and health services. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Sen. Carolyn Comitta introduced S.B. 434— the Marriage Equality Act— to remove discriminatory language from state law and protect same-sex marriage rights if the Supreme Court overturns Obergefell v. Hodges. Lawmakers support the measure to ensure that marriage equality remains safeguarded amid rising concerns over court decisions. FOX43
- ➤ Starting next week, construction will begin on Route 322 west in Dauphin County and will close the right lane and shoulder over a 1,000-foot segment before the South Hanover Street/Middletown ramp until the project finishes in mid-October; drivers must use caution as the left lane remains open and Liberty Excavation Inc.—contracted by PennDOT—conducts the work.
