  • Elle Daniels and TJ Greenhowe opened Wake & Bake Café at 240 N. 3rd St. where patrons quickly lined up for fresh baked treats, quality coffee, and breakfast items. The new space, a renovated former Deco Grab & Go, now employs four staff to help serve the growing community demand.  TheBurg

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Climate experts warn that rising summer rainfall and warmer weather from climate change are making catastrophic flooding a growing risk in central Pennsylvania, especially in low-lying areas along waterways like the Susquehanna. Local officials stress that residents must prepare for flash floods as extreme weather events become more common—conditions that could soon threaten communities.  PennLive
  • The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for South-Central Pennsylvania — effective today from 2 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday — due to thunderstorms expected to drop 2 to 3 inches of rain with some areas receiving up to 5 inches. Residents in the affected counties are advised to monitor forecasts and be ready to act if flash flooding occurs.  WGAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State senators Nick Miller and James Malone met with fire and police officials from Lancaster County on the July 4th weekend to discuss how to recruit and keep first responders in rural areas that rely on volunteer fire departments. They said they will create grant programs to fund essential gear and support for these emergency teams.  WGAL
