ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday just before 7 a.m., a crash in Springettsbury Township—near Exit 19—blocked a southbound lane on I-83 and caused heavy traffic delays in York County.  WGAL

CRIME NEWS

  • Former assistant director of nursing Eliut Lopez-Enriquez pleaded guilty in March 2023 to abusing 80-year-old Edward Scott at Gardens of Blue Ridge nursing home in Dauphin County and now faces up to two years in jail—Scott, a double-amputee with a severe back ulcer, died two months later.  PennLive

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Capital Region Water is starting a $1.4 billion project over 40 years to fix its 177-mile sewer system and cut pollution by turning methane into energy—this work will improve stormwater management and help fund customer programs while avoiding steep rate hikes, with a key part set to finish by the end of 2025.  WGAL
  • Pennsylvania jumped to 27th in FishingBooker’s fishing rankings and celebrated 100 years of the Appalachian Trail as many state parks saw up to a 63% rise in visitors. Local trail towns and volunteer groups help keep trails safe and offer affordable outdoor fun as the state builds on its growing recreation boom.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, Pennsylvania lawmakers met with winemakers at Nissley Vineyards in Lancaster to discuss climate change, regulations, and market fairness while reviewing how the wine industry supports over 10,700 jobs and adds $1.7B to the local economy. The roundtable—co-hosted by the House Majority Policy Committee and the Central PA House Delegation—will guide future legislative steps to help local winemakers grow their businesses.  Central Penn Business Journal
  • Pennsylvania lawmakers did not complete a budget by June 30, so the state will delay $2.5 billion in payments to schools, counties and service providers for six weeks — Secretary of the Budget Uri Monson said that negotiations continue and funds will be released once a budget bill reaches the governor.  Spotlight PA
