CRIME NEWS

  • Lower Paxton Township police arrested 11 people during a fireworks event at Koons Park last Thursday—7 adults and 4 minors—on charges of aggravated assault, drug possession, evading arrest on foot, obstructing highways and underage possession of alcohol while investigators are probing a female who allegedly threw a firework into a crowd and recovered a BB gun that resembled a handgun.  WGAL
  • Detectives are investigating after police shot Kenneth Cox near Pine Street in Steelton on July 6 after he allegedly shot another man—Mayor Ciera Dent ordered the temporary shutdown of Soul Lounge on N. Front Street amid safety concerns as stray bullets hit a nearby car.  Local 21 News
  • A man was shot by police in Steelton after an altercation outside a nightclub — the incident occurred near Pine Street and River Alley at about 4 a.m. on Sunday, Mayor Ciera Dent said on Facebook.  FOX43

  • Gov. Josh Shapiro signed a new law on June 30 that protects food donors by allowing them to give food past its best by date if an inspection shows it is safe for consumption — the change aims to help food banks and charities receive more nutritious donations and reduce waste.  WITF
  • Dauphin County Commissioner Justin Douglas announced Monday he launched an exploratory committee to test the waters for a run for Congress in PA’s 10th district in 2026—he will meet with local leaders to assess support and resources for the potential campaign.  TheBurg
