  • Bryson Funk, a 10-year-old baseball player, died from a heart attack on June 12—one day after helping his team secure a championship win. The community raised over $41K through a GoFundMe campaign to help cover his family's funeral costs.  Local 21 News

  • On June 16th, Hershey’s Chocolate World unveiled new Twizzlers-themed treats that include a Pull ‘N’ Peel milkshake, bubble waffles, and an adult cocktail available until September 1—meant to add to the fun of the new Twizzlers Twisted Gravity ride, the tallest Screamin’ Swing in the world.  ABC27

CRIME NEWS

  • A woman was killed and a 27-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash on Route 22/322 in Reed Township on Monday when a GMC S15 pickup truck lost control while passing a commercial vehicle and hit an embankment—then rolled onto railroad tracks, prompting crews to close the road for over five hours.  WGAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers from Delaware County are proposing a bill that would give the attorney general power to review big private equity deals in health care after Crozer Health closed last month—this is meant to help stop hospital losses. The Senate will now debate the bill as some senators worry it may slow needed investments.  WITF
  • Attorney General Dave Sunday announced on Monday that Pennsylvania will receive up to $200 million over 15 years from a national opioid settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family—part of a $7.4 billion agreement addressing the opioid crisis.  PennLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Capital Region Water has issued a boil water advisory for residents at 316, 320, 322, 341, and 345 Carlisle Street, 1716 Holly Street, and 1708 and 1710 Derry Street — residents must boil tap water for one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or washing until further notice.  WGAL

SPORTS NEWS

  • On June 16, HU Storm welcomed Wildcard Gaming to campus as the pro Rocket League team set up its bootcamp ahead of the Major Tournament in Raleigh on June 28 — the team will use high-speed LAN facilities and dorms to prepare for competing against other top teams for a share of the prize pool.  Harrisburg University of Science and Technology
