ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A tractor-trailer went off the road and hit the median on Interstate 81 in Dauphin County near Exit 80 at 6 a.m. Tuesday, causing several miles of traffic backups as the left southbound lane was restricted and northbound lanes slowed—no injuries have been reported. WGAL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two brothers from Dauphin County were charged with aggravated assault after a road rage incident on June 1 in Derry Township—police said the attack involved punching a man more than 20 times following a traffic dispute at a stop sign. PennLive
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ A new study from SmartAsset finds that a single person needs an annual salary of $95,306 to live comfortably in Pennsylvania while a family of four must earn $248,435, covering costs for housing, groceries, vacations, retirement savings, education funds, and emergencies. The study used the 50—30—20 rule and ranks Pennsylvania as 25th for singles and 16th for families in cost of living. FOX43
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Members of the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association are gathering today at the state Capitol at 10:00 a.m. to call for more state funds for public transit in support of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s plan to invest $292 million next year—Rabbittransit, which serves 11 counties including Dauphin, said that without extra funding fare hikes and route cuts may soon be needed. WGAL
- ➤ The Pennsylvania House passed two bills on Monday that would let childhood sexual abuse survivors file lawsuits after current time limits; one bill (122-80) now heads to the GOP-controlled Senate while the other (138-64) moves toward a statewide constitutional amendment that requires three more legislative votes. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center performed its 600th heart transplant last month on 51-year-old Paul Clifford—a patient from State College whose heart had weakened by 20 percent—and discharged him on June 3—this center, which began heart transplants in 1984, is the only hospital outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh that offers the surgery.
