- ➤ Wake and Bake Cafe will open soon at Suite 102 of the Payne Shoemaker Building on 240 N. Third St. downtown, serving scratch-made treats, specialty coffees, vegan desserts, and gluten-friendly options. Owner Elle Daniels, who began selling cakes from her home, renovated the space with help from her partner—custom counters and a cheery design were added—and the cafe will run from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Zigui Zheng and Yan Qiu were convicted in Cumberland County for using massage parlors as fronts for sex trafficking and prostitution — Zheng was present at trial while Qiu was tried in absentia and both now face potential state prison terms. PennLive
- ➤ On May 31, Angel Gonzalez of Lansdowne intentionally crashed his car into a state trooper’s cruiser on I-81 at 11:55 a.m., injuring the officer during a chase that started over traffic violations and drug use; he now faces 11 charges for aggravated assault, fleeing, DUI+drug paraphernalia.
