GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice J. Michael Eakin died Tuesday at Penn State Milton S. • Effective June 5, Pennsylvania will ban handheld phone use while driving under Paul Miller’s Law — drivers must now use only hands-free devices even at red lights. • Mechanicsburg fire stations will soon share a new $8 million roof as the Citizens Firehouse on South York Street is demolished next month, and a facility that houses both forces is set to open next summer; the new station will offer safer conditions—such as decontamination areas and better sleeping rooms—for firefighters who merged in 2019.
