- ➤ Sweet Meltdown Bakery and Coffee will open this summer at Cahoots Taproom and Arcade in Middletown at the former Tattered Flag Brewery. Partners Alex Costik and Bethany Vaudrin plan to serve quality coffee, fresh pastries and custom desserts with regular hours starting mid-June. PennLive
- ➤ El Sol Mexican Restaurant closed in downtown Harrisburg after 20 years — leaving a void in the neighborhood. The city plans to announce a new restaurant concept in the former space within a month — with ongoing redevelopment projects and condo sales set to boost local business. Local 21 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Harrisburg’s 58th annual Artsfest continues along Riverfront Park with more than 170 artists showcasing ceramics, paintings, jewelry, and other handcrafted works today. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Sunday and until 5 p.m. on Monday (with free shuttle service and free street parking Sunday and Monday). PennLive
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Starting June 1, regulated utilities in Pennsylvania will raise electric rates amid rising generation costs as customers are urged to review their energy use ahead of summer. One provider will increase rates by nearly 20 percent while other companies will see smaller adjustments. PennLive

- ➤ Vedika Burman, a 12-year-old at Central Dauphin Middle School (Lower Paxton Township), will represent central PA in the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. from May 26 to May 28, where the top winner takes home $50,000. PennLive

- ➤ American flags will fly at half-staff from sunrise until noon then be raised briskly to full-staff until sunset on Memorial Day in line with U.S. Code guidelines (honoring fallen service members) in Harrisburg and beyond. ABC27
