CULTURE NEWS

  • Vietnam veterans were honored with an Echo Taps ceremony at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery (a place of tribute) that showed their pride and sacrifice. The event brought comfort and remembrance to those who served.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • In 2024, top Pennsylvania lawmakers accepted roughly $119,000 in gifts and travel from lobbyists and special interest groups. House Majority Leader Matt Bradford took a $14,700 weeklong trip to Israel while state Sen. Camera Bartolotta and Rep. Tim O’Neal traveled to Taiwan with a combined cost of $21,000 — all reported on their ethics forms.  Spotlight PA
  • Senator Dave McCormick joined forces with colleagues from Arizona and Connecticut to introduce three bipartisan bills that aim to increase affordable housing for veterans, support nuclear energy financing, and target Mexican drug cartels—efforts that address rising housing costs and security challenges in the state.  PennLive
  • Data shows that 981 state employees earned over $200,000 in 2024, a 19% rise from last year and more than a 500% increase since 2020. Most top earners were judges and higher education administrators — one chancellor earned over $660,000 while Governor Shapiro received $228,073 with modest automatic raises.  PennLive
  • Firefighters and EMS officials expressed concerns about a shortage during the Fire Expo at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex on March 16th and 17th, organized by the Lancaster County Fireman’s Association—38 companies and 12,000 people attended the event. Officials said the expo is a chance to inspire locals to support and join fire departments—helping to address volunteer recruitment challenges and extensive training requirements.  Local 21 News
