  • A section of the Susquehanna River will be restricted from May 21 through May 25 as buoys steer boat traffic around Harrisburg International Airport in preparation for the annual air show set for Memorial Day weekend.  WGAL
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of south central PA celebrated 270 graduating seniors today in Harrisburg to highlight the power of mentorship. Community members gathered to honor the graduates and support ongoing youth success.  FOX43

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Sachiko Baez and Jameson Christopher will open Slice — an upscale sports bar and restaurant in the former Crawdaddy’s on N. 6th Street — to offer elevated sports bar food, billiards, and local hangouts. The soft opening is planned for the end of June.  TheBurg
  • Goodwill recently opened a new store at Summerdale Plaza in East Pennsboro Township while Savers Thrift will debut May 28 at the former Christmas Tree Shops in High Pointe Commons in Swatara Township, giving local thrifters more affordable options.  PennLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 54th annual PA Greek Fest will take place May 15-17 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Camp Hill, featuring Greek food, music, dancing and more. A free shuttle service will run from the Highmark parking lot in Wormleysburg — easing parking concerns during the event.  TheBurg

  • Naz Cifuentes overcame personal challenges, including health setbacks and a major career shift, to become Harrisburg University’s 2026 Commencement Student Speaker.   • Harrisburg University Professor Leena Pattarkine and student Era Chouhan ’25 co-authored a chapter on cancer hypoxia that shows how new imaging tools using nanobiotechnology and AI may improve treatment for low oxygen tumors. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A dirt pile in Steelton repeatedly violated Clean Stream Law regulations since 2024—inspections show it failed to maintain best management practices and caused damage near a local home along Paxton Street. The Dauphin County Conservation District will continue follow-up inspections to check for compliance.  Local 21 News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In April, active housing listings grew to five-year highs in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties while buyer demand held steady, according to the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS.
