  • Harrisburg City Council is asking residents to join Hot Spot Saturdays – community cleanups aimed at fighting illegal dumping. The events start May 16 and will run monthly until September 19 in local neighborhoods.  WGAL
  • A community event will celebrate Cottage Hill’s history and unveil plans for its future on Saturday, May 16 in Steelton—starting with Breakfast with Coach Erby at 9:30 a.m., a Roller Walk at 10:30 a.m., and community festivities at noon.  PennLive
  • Ross Willard, founder of Recycle Bicycle that repaired and donated thousands of bikes to locals, died of a heart attack, leaving a legacy of community support (friends call him Harrisburg’s grease-stained saint).  PennLive

  • The Manufacturers’ Association in south central PA is using a $350,000 state grant to help local manufacturers adopt AI and train 120 workers. In York, the group will host workshops and automation assessments to boost production.  Central Penn Business Journal
  • Gas prices in the region averaged about $4.67 per gallon on Monday as summer nears + federal talks on pausing the gas tax and rising oil prices may lead to further changes that local drivers in Harrisburg should watch closely.  PennLive

  • International student enrollment in Pennsylvania dropped 5% from 52,834 in March 2025 to 50,169 in March 2026 as stricter visa policies + increased overseas competition challenged local colleges after a record high last year.  Central Penn Business Journal

  • Legacy Snack Solutions is recalling certain batches of Giant Eagle baked pita chips sold in Pennsylvania due to potential salmonella contamination (linked to a recalled milk powder batch), with no illnesses reported so far.
