- ➤ Derry Township official Sean Guay resigned as secretary of the planning commission after police charged him with simple assault for reportedly assaulting his wife at their home last month—his resignation was accepted at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. PennLive
- ➤ On April 13, a firebombing at the Governor’s Residence damaged a wall clock and temporary exhibits while closed doors helped preserve historically valuable items—Cody Balmer has been charged with arson and is held without bail as repairs continue and officials plan a fundraising drive for further work. - ➤ PennDOT is hosting special Real ID Days on Monday, April 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at select license centers to speed up processing before the May 7 deadline when a federal-approved ID is required, and applicants must provide proof of identity, Social Security, and two current address documents + pay a $30 fee. - ➤ ICE confirmed that six Bhutanese refugees from Pennsylvania were deported to Bhutan between April 7 and 14 even though they were not considered citizens of Bhutan. An immigration attorney claims that one deported man’s removal violated international law—three additional men remain in ICE custody with pending legal action. WITF

- ➤ UPMC is addressing Pennsylvania’s severe healthcare worker shortage by hosting a virtual career fair for high school students, parents, and counselors and by offering accelerated programs—such as a 16‑month nursing program and shadowing opportunities—to introduce students to diverse healthcare roles; nursing facilities alone are short 2,600 workers and the drive aims to ease a crisis expected to worsen over the next seven years.
