CRIME NEWS

  • 23-year-old Lauren Hill fired at least two shots at an occupied SUV during an argument on Market Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and is now charged with two counts of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief and a firearms offense while being held at Dauphin County Prison on a bail of 300,000 dollars.  WGAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania House unanimously advanced a consumer data privacy bill by expanding it to let people opt out of data collection and add protections for sensitive personal and financial information — the bill now moves to the Appropriations Committee for a fiscal review before a Senate vote takes place.  WITF
  • PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll announced the state will invest $947.3 million in 124 infrastructure projects across southcentral Pennsylvania to improve highways and bridges. The projects—spanning counties such as Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York—aim to refurbish 121 miles of roadway and replace 16 bridges, with over $402 million scheduled for investment this year.  ABC27
  • On Wednesday the Dauphin County Board of Elections began mailing ballots and placing ballot drop boxes ahead of the May 20 municipal primary, and 13,563 mail-in ballots have been requested so far. The elections office at 1251 S. 28th Street extended its hours to 6 p.m. daily (May 5 to 19) and will remain open until 8 p.m. on Election Day while voters can return ballots by mail, in person or at secure drop boxes.  TheBurg
