CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Alarms rang multiple times at the Governor’s Residence in the hours before the arson on April 12 and a suspect accused of triggering an alarm and throwing Molotov cocktails at 2 a.m.—Pennsylvania State Police are reviewing the security details. Local 21 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After an alleged arsonist damaged a wing of the governor's mansion in a night attack, Gov. Shapiro reopened the mansion to the public for an Easter egg hunt on Tuesday—just days after the incident. He said the smell of smoke is gone and expects repairs to be finished by mid-summer while a security review moves forward. Spotlight PA
- ➤ The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced more than $6.6 million in grants for 19 organizations to expand apprenticeship programs in agriculture, health care and IT. In Central Pennsylvania, groups like the Center for Dairy Excellence, LEAF Project and Hamilton-Ryker/TalentGro will use the funds to train workers — part of Governor Shapiro’s plan to boost the state’s workforce. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center performed the first TAMBE procedure (a minimally invasive surgery to treat complex aortic aneurysms) in central Pennsylvania, allowing a high-risk patient to avoid open surgery and shorten recovery.
