  • Families are invited to join the 26th annual Tour de Belt on Sunday, June 7 starting at 9 a.m. at HACC; the 18-mile ride raises funds to repair and expand Harrisburg’s greenbelt and ends with a festive finish featuring food trucks and rest stops.  TheBurg

  • Historic Harrisburg Association announced it will honor downtown preservation projects Walnut Street Commons (by Harristown Enterprises) and The Lowengard building with an awards ceremony on May 14 at Whitaker Center.  TheBurg
  • Hershey Entertainment announced that Hershey Theatre will host 'The Phil Collins Story'—a live docu-concert celebrating Phil Collins' music from Genesis and his solo career—on Oct. 25 at 8 p.m, with tickets on sale starting April 17 at 10 a.m.  FOX43
  • Theatre Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra will present a concert version of Sondheim’s ‘Follies’ on May 30 and 31 at the Forum Auditorium on the State Capitol Complex — a celebration of Theatre Harrisburg’s 100th season.   • Milton Hershey School seniors celebrated High Five Day yesterday by thanking teachers and staff and visiting elementary students to encourage them (a tradition that inspires younger students).  WGAL
  • Harrisburg School District will vote soon on a $6.5 million plan to demolish the 100-year-old William Penn building this summer. The bid from the Gordian Group includes asbestos removal (nearly $300,000) and the preservation of historic facades for future projects.  TheBurg
  • Harrisburg Area Community College eliminated over 100 jobs in recent program cuts that left staff and community members surprised, with officials attributing the decision to budget constraints.  FOX43

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Apr. 15, Harrisburg International Airport recorded 87°F, tying the 1941 record for the hottest April day in the area, and forecast models show today a slight rise in temperatures with possible thundershowers tonight in parts of the region.  WGAL
