ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews responded at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday to a fire at Color Bar Beauty Salon on Mountain Road in Lower Paxton Township that damaged the salon but left no injuries; officials reported the blaze was contained—its cause remains under investigation—and that no other businesses were affected—further review is planned—.  Local 21 News
  • Crews battled an overnight fire at the Governor’s Residence on North Front Street just after 2:00 a.m. today—officials are working to obtain more details.  ABC27

CRIME NEWS

  • A Mechanicsburg man, Fernando Colon-Torres age 29, was arrested on April 11 after he drove the wrong way on Route 15 on January 17 at 4:37 p.m.—he crashed into four vehicles, punched an EMT, and now faces over 30 charges with a preliminary hearing set for April 24 at 1 p.m.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Pennsylvania State Police released results from their Orange Squeeze traffic detail in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission for National Distracted Driving Awareness Month—troopers issued 116 citations, 47 warnings and made one DUI arrest for drug possession. Officials said the operation is key since active work zones saw 176 crashes last year that resulted in two deaths and 48 injuries.  ABC27
  • PennDOT announced that starting May 7 anyone boarding a plane or visiting federal buildings must show a Real ID-compliant license—this means you must update your driver’s license or bring another form of federally issued ID and pay a one-time fee of $30. Special Real ID Days will be held at various license centers to help residents complete the process.  PennLive
