CRIME NEWS

  • Judge Sonya McKnight’s lawyer, Cory Leshner, said he will appeal her guilty verdict after she was convicted in a case where prosecutors alleged she attempted to kill her ex-boyfriend—he argued the evidence was insufficient to support the charge.  PennLive
  • A jury found suspended Dauphin County Judge Sonya McKnight guilty of attempted murder and aggravated assault for shooting her ex-boyfriend Michael McCoy while he slept in his home along Saddle Ridge Drive in Susquehanna Township in February 2024.  ABC27
  • Suspended Dauphin County Judge Sonya McKnight faced trial for attempted murder after shooting her boyfriend Michael McCoy in the head on Feb. 10, 2024 — her trial resumed on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Dauphin County Courthouse where key testimony and gunshot residue evidence was presented.  Local 21 News
  • A Cumberland County man, Raymond Nattress of Lower Allen Township, was sentenced to 23 to 46 years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing a child, having been convicted on charges including three counts of rape, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors (the abuse lasted from August 2020 until February 2021) and was ordered to serve 12 years of probation while registering as a sex offender.  ABC27

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Senator Lindsey Williams has proposed a bill that would require public schools to pay education support workers a living wage of at least $20 per hour starting the 2025-26 school year. The Department of Education will reimburse school districts for the wage increase until the 2029-30 school year if the bill passes.  ABC27
