CRIME NEWS

  • Raymond D. Nattress, 46, a Lower Allen Township man, was sentenced Tuesday to a minimum of 23 years in state prison after prosecutors said he groomed and sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl he knew for over a year.  PennLive
  • A 13-year-old boy was reported missing Tuesday from Lower Paxton Township, and he is described as wearing a purple Baltimore Ravens hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and black sneakers—police ask anyone with information to call 911 or Dauphin County dispatch.  PennLive

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gov. Josh Shapiro announced 81 Main Street Matters investments that will boost economic opportunities for small businesses statewide—projects in central Pennsylvania include repairing sidewalks, upgrading lighting and improving building fronts. The investments are part of a plan that adds $20 million to the 2025-26 budget after DCED received over 200 applications.  Central Penn Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Legislators have proposed a bill that would limit student use of mobile devices in K-12 classrooms and require school governing bodies to adopt written policies that restrict in-class usage—except for students with medical, educational, or emergency service needs. The bill has not yet been introduced and will be reviewed at an open meeting to allow public input.  ABC27

  • The Shapiro Administration announced special REAL ID Days will be held at 57 driver’s license centers on April 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. — additional events are scheduled for April 28 and May 5 as PennDOT prepares for federal enforcement on May 7.  ABC27
  • Dauphin County Commissioner Justin Douglass called on colleague George Hartwick to resign after Hartwick admitted drinking half a bottle of vodka before crashing a county vehicle last week—he now faces DUI charges that raise concerns about his leadership.  WGAL
