CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Middle Paxton Elementary School went on lockdown around 3:30pm Friday when state police chased a suspect who reportedly ran after a victim with a baseball bat — officials say the lockdown was precautionary and the suspect was arrested with no public danger. Local 21 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Josh Shapiro was a guest on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday and was asked if he would run for president in 2028; he said he is focused on balancing Pennsylvania’s budget and serving its people—he did not commit to a run. PennLive
- ➤ Senator John Fetterman introduced the School Lunch Debt Cancellation Act on March 12th to have the USDA pay off unpaid school meal debt and let the agency purchase food for banks (other senators joined him). FOX43
- ➤ North Middleton Township in Cumberland County declared a 30-day burn ban effective March 12 after the fire chief and emergency management coordinator met over drought conditions and wildfire risks. The ban restricts all open burning — including burn barrels, fire rings, and on-ground fires — but does not affect propane stoves or charcoal grills when charcoal is fully extinguished. FOX43
