- ➤ Harrisburg hosts its annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 21; beginning at 2 p.m. at the Market Street Bridge, the parade features Irish pipe and drum bands, dancers and floats and follows a 4-Mile Race starting at 12 p.m. FOX43
- ➤ The city designated Allison Hill a Blueprint Community, offering resources and training (for local leaders) to develop neighborhood revitalization projects; the initiative (launched by the city) is expected to improve community spaces. FOX43
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Construction on a 700-acre site in Cumberland County may resume today to build a substation that will supply energy to a planned data center in Middlesex Township + the project marks an important development for local business growth. FOX43
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Creative York is now running the Belmont Theatre, which is closed for renovations and set to reopen with new shows in September. The historic venue, originally known as York Little Theatre, will merge performing arts with Creative York’s gallery and classes+ the change aims to boost the local arts scene. WGAL
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Shapiro Administration has invested $4.1 million to expand Schools-to-Work and pre-apprenticeship pathways statewide so high school students can gain career skills; Susquehanna Township School District will use part of the grant to launch a teacher training program at its Sara Lindemuth and Anna Carter Primary School. - ➤ More than 500 elementary students in Camp Hill finished painting 25 panels of parachute cloth that show local landmarks, lions, and pizza in art class. The artwork will be installed outside Eisenhower Elementary in May after wall repairs and priming + drivers on Route 15 can see the vibrant community story. WGAL
- ➤ Harrisburg School District launched its All-Star Reading Event: Read Every Day to Score Big on Wednesday at Camp Curtin Academy. The event, part of Read Across America Week, promoted literacy among Pre-K to 5th grade students with the help of over 70 community volunteers. FOX43
- ➤ The Department of Ed. announced that in July, nursing degrees will be removed from the professional programs list — cutting federal aid for graduate nursing — so local students must review their funding options. FOX43
