- ➤ LHM Social Services Foundation opened a 42,000 sqft transitional housing facility for its Horizons program to provide housing, meals, and case management to unhoused individuals and families. The facility at 3251 Butler Ave (Susquehanna Township) features 58 furnished units to support long-term stability. TheBurg
- ➤ Downtown Harrisburg is set for early revitalization as local leaders and businesses launch projects to boost foot traffic and renew public spaces. Coordinated efforts include new events and improved streets (state backed) and community engagement that start showing results now. TheBurg

- ➤ Drumming community members established the Downbeat Foundation to honor late drummer Ben Smith by offering free drum lessons and instruments to children in Harrisburg. - ➤ Whitaker Center opened its new live animal exhibit, Survival of the Slowest: Counterintuitive Adaptations, today; the show features 19 habitats with sloths, green iguanas and chameleons — live educator-led sessions explain how slow-moving animals survive. TheBurg

- ➤ Caleb Houston ’27 (an advanced manufacturing and robotics student) was inspired by mentor Dr. Charles Shearrow and designed an emergency stop bump guard at the STORMWERX Research Center in Enola. - ➤ Whitaker Center in downtown Harrisburg is hosting Scout Sundays for Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, featuring hands-on STEM workshops from October through May. Participants can earn badges in robotics, coding & engineering and may attend individually or as a troop with discounted admission. TheBurg
