  • Chris Moppin, a longtime Harrisburg resident and Senators clubhouse manager, won $1 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket bought at Cue-Nique and plans to take his five grandkids to Disney World while considering an early retirement; Lottery officials gave him his commemorative check Wednesday at the store.  Local 21 News
  • More than 100 churchgoers gathered Wednesday in downtown for a peace pilgrimage that began at Market Square Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. and ended at Pine Street Presbyterian Church (with stops for scripture readings and a moment of silence).  PennLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Elizabethtown College and Lancaster Catholic High School are partnering on a dual enrollment program that lets students earn a year's college credit through courses offered on campus (or online) across all six schools.   • The state Senate approved Senate Bill 1014, which would ban cell phone use in classrooms by the start of the 2027-28 school year—lawmaker press conference is set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. as the bill moves to the House Education Committee.  Local 21 News

  • On Tuesday, the fire department in Mercersburg learned its crews could not use hydrants for emergencies, prompting meetings Tuesday night and Wednesday morning with local officials — the water authority has since reversed the decision to ensure reliable fire protection.  PennLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Costco recalled mini beignets sold from Jan. 16 to Jan. 30 that were labeled as filled with caramel but contained chocolate hazelnut (a tree nut allergen risk) in Pennsylvania. Customers can return the item for a refund if they have concerns.  PennLive
