COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Harrisburg Green Alliance has launched as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to improve public spaces by merging with the Harrisburg Parks Foundation and forming a Neighborhood Advisory Committee to engage residents in enhancing community pride and economic growth.  Central Penn Business Journal
  • TFEC is investing in leadership programs to help nonprofit leaders across Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, and Perry Counties (including Dillsburg) build capacity to serve community needs, and will host the free Susquehanna Nonprofit Summit on April 22 at the Wyndham Gettysburg Hotel & Conference Center.  Central Penn Business Journal

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Juniata High School student died in a crash, the Juniata County School District said on Monday, and community counselors will be available tomorrow to support affected students.  WGAL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Harrisburg’s new luxury event space, Élevé Event Studio, is set to open in coming weeks at the former Cafe 1500 in the 1500 Condominium building at 1500 N. Sixth St., and it is already booking weddings, receptions and corporate events—complete with in-house catering and event planning.  PennLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • High school seniors can apply for the 2026 Best and Brightest award offered by PA Media Group by submitting an online application with an essay and letters of recommendation before March 6 (eligibility requires a minimum 3.0 GPA for students in select counties).  PennLive
  • Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania held an event at the Capitol on Monday where scouts met female legislators and inducted them into Troop PA — an honorary group celebrating Girl Scout leaders — to inspire leadership in young members.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Josh Shapiro visited downtown businesses on Monday and said state investment in the local economy will depend on cooperation from city leaders and private partners. He met with owners at Anna Rose Bakery and McGrath’s Pub, who noted high parking rates as a major challenge.  FOX43

HEALTH NEWS

  • UPMC Harrisburg Hospital closed its walk-in emergency room at 12:30 p.m. Monday because of a heating system failure, but it still accepted labor and delivery patients while directing other emergencies to UPMC West Shore in Mechanicsburg + UPMC Community Osteopathic.  FOX43
  • Some UPMC patients have experienced MRI result delays (up to 30 days) because of a radiologist shortage fueled by an aging population and a pause in H-1B visa recruitment. UPMC has added radiologists and teamed with external providers to ease wait times.  PennLive
