About this event
Join local journalist Joe McClure at the Centennial Barn on Wednesday, November 18, for “Ripe for Revolution: Things to Know about Harrisburg and the Revolutionary War.” In honor of the America250 celebration, McClure, a news editor for The Patriot-News, will speak about Harrisburg-area patriots in the Revolutionary War. Even before the war, area residents, gripped with patriotic fervor, opposed what they saw as British overreach. When war broke out, many eagerly took up arms and helped in other ways to secure our independence. McClure’s presentation will highlight some of the locals who made those contributions and how the region has remembered the conflict.
This free event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Annual Membership Meeting of the Friends. Although pre-registration is not required, it is appreciated so we can plan for seating.
