  • Steelton-Highspire students joined Marines and Ollie's on Wednesday morning in Dauphin County to shop for toys for the annual Toys for Tots event. The program teaches leadership + empathy as in-store donations help gift families in need.  FOX43

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dollar General will pay Pennsylvania $1.55 million to settle charges for repeatedly overcharging customers between 2019 and 2023. The settlement requires the company to improve store practices through employee training and weekly shelf tag updates across its locations.  CBS News Philadelphia
  • Sheetz will open its new Camp Hill store on Dec. 18 at 4415 Carlisle Park. The event begins at 8 a.m. with free coffee and soda plus festivities starting at 9 a.m. and a ribbon-cutting at 10:45 a.m.  Central Penn Business Journal

  • Blacklisted Poets is holding its poetry reading today at 8 p.m. at HMAC’s basement, where cohosts Amy Trout and Anna Jones lead a diverse group in sharing original work and building community. The group, with nearly 30 years of history, adapts its venue between indoor gatherings in winter and outdoor events in summer.  TheBurg
  • The Governor’s Residence, repaired after an April arson attack, will join the annual Candlelight House Tour on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Harrisburg; tickets cost $30 and are available at the Historic Harrisburg Resource Center (1230 N. Third St.).  PennLive

  • Harrisburg University alumnus Krunal Panchal ‘20 published his paper on sensor fusion for autonomous vehicles on Dec. 10, 2025, showcasing the technical foundation gained at the university (he now leads AI projects at T-Mobile and other firms).  Harrisburg University of Science and Technology
  • PASSHE will expand workforce partnerships this spring to create real-world projects at Shippensburg University & Commonwealth University. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Attorney General Dave Sunday warned buyers to be cautious during the holiday season when adopting pets, noting red flags like online payments before meeting breeders, vague credentials, and offers of expensive puppies from puppy mills; he urged consumers to consider local shelters or reputable breeders to avoid scams.  WGAL
  • On Wednesday, Dec. 10, Sen. Devlin Robinson hosted a ceremony at the Pennsylvania State Capitol honoring veterans with a 36-inch live balsam wreath featuring military branch flags (including the POW/MIA flag).   • Lucky Foods brand cinnamon sold in Pennsylvania and 13 other states has been recalled after tests by the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets found elevated lead levels in a 40-gram package best-before Sept. 15, and consumers are advised to discard the product.  PennLive
  • Wegmans unsalted Deluxe Mixed Nuts in 34-ounce tubs and 11.5-ounce bags have been recalled due to possible salmonella found in raw pistachios; the products sold in Pennsylvania between Nov. 3 and Dec. 1 should be returned for a refund.  PennLive
  • Little Pea Shop recalled two crib bumper styles on Dec. 4 after the items sold online from October 2023 through October 2025 were found to risk obstructing infant breathing — buyers should destroy them and contact the company for a refund.  PennLive
