ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Thousands of Met-Ed customers in Adams County remain without power after an explosive substation fire on Gardners Station Road Monday night—residents report that repairs are underway as families face the heat with minimal cooling and power is set to return tonight at 11 p.m.  Local 21 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled last week that cyclists may ride in a traffic lane — they must use reasonable efforts to move aside when it is safe for drivers to pass. This decision reaffirms the state vehicle code that treats riders as regular traffic participants.  WITF

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture says raw milk sold under the Meadow View Jerseys brand in Berks, Dauphin, and Lebanon counties may be contaminated with bacteria that cause fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The milk has been sold in half-gallon and gallon containers (sell-by dates from April 15 to July 8) and has reportedly made some people sick while a rare infection can spread to the bloodstream and become life-threatening.  WGAL

SPORTS NEWS

  • A team of cyclists from Lancaster and Berks counties completed the grueling 3,000-mile Race Across America when they finished in Atlantic City on June 25, riding nonstop from Oceanside, California, to support ZOE International’s fight against child trafficking. Led by former undercover officer Brad Ortenzi, the team rode through 13 states and raised nearly $6,000 — much less than in 2023.  WGAL
