COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The 41st annual Children's Miracle Network Telethon finale airs on WGAL or via livestream at 7 p.m. tonight — it will raise money for injured and sick kids at Penn State Health Children's Hospital — and donations will pay for lifesaving equipment, key patient programs and research.  WGAL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Lower Paxton Township roads Lakewood Drive and Downhower Road were closed after a water main break on Union Deposit Road early June 5 with a service call reported at 5:20 a.m.—emergency dispatch said it is unknown when the roads will reopen.  FOX43

CRIME NEWS

  • Former Magisterial District Judge Sonya McKnight, convicted in March for attempting to murder her ex-boyfriend Michael McCoy who became legally blind from severe facial injuries, has been ordered to pay $253.50 to Pennsylvania’s Office of Victim Services to help cover his medical copays — additional bills may be pursued if his insurance does not cover all expenses.  PennLive
  • Fourteen-year-old Zahkee Talib-Davis pleaded guilty to third-degree murder for fatally shooting 18-year-old Tyron Perrin in the laundry room of a Susquehanna Township apartment on June 4, 2024—his plea avoiding the life sentence that a first-degree murder conviction would have brought.  PennLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • South Side Elementary closed yesterday morning due to a water main break that cut off water service in the building—forcing an early summer break for its students. Repairs are expected to take several hours while traffic is managed with a lane change nearby.  Local 21 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Middlesex Township supervisors approved new zoning rules for data centers on 694 acres off Country Club Road—a decision that paves the way for a hyperscale computer server farm that could create up to 225 jobs and boost tax revenue. The new ordinance requires noise, traffic, and water studies to ensure the project operates safely.  PennLive
  • Commissioner Justin Douglas criticized the Dauphin County Library System’s $3,000 monthly contract with McNees Government Relations—led by controversial consultant Mike Musser—at a public meeting, questioning the county’s repeated engagement with his firms. He also denied allegations of leaking confidential employee information to PennLive while calling for more transparency in county operations.  PennLive
