COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Red Land Senior Center in Newberry Township faces a one-week deadline to raise $100,000 by June 6 so it can secure a permanent home after a terminated lease left it without a space. The nonprofit has raised over 70% of the $355,000 needed—yet must also cover costly repairs and ADA upgrades—while depending on community support to save the center.  FOX43
  • After the lease ended, the Red Land Senior Center lost its home and York County seniors now have one final week to meet their fundraising goal — they hope to secure a new space for the center.  FOX43

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Rocky weather caused a tree to crash onto a Wormleysburg home on May 31, damaging the structure and several power poles on 1st Avenue — S. Second Street was closed without power as crews worked through the night to secure the area.  Local 21 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Vietnamese and Cambodian refugees who arrived 50 years ago celebrated their reunion at a Cambodian picnic held Saturday at Memorial Lake State Park—many recalled their hardships and the support they received after arriving at Fort Indiantown Gap. The event allowed them to share memories of loss and hope as they gathered with fellow refugees and local Americans.  ABC27

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Storms left thousands of customers without power across central PA Saturday morning after heavy rain and winds passed through the region—PPL reported outages affecting over 12,800 customers in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties while FirstEnergy had nearly 1,400 customers without power in Lebanon and York counties. PPL estimated power would be restored by 11 p.m. Saturday, and repair times for FirstEnergy customers varied.  Local 21 News
