- ➤ Barking Goat Farm in Perry County invites visitors to enjoy baby goat snuggles+donate to support animal care on April 11 and April 18 from 10 a.m. to noon in Duncannon. Guests can also explore the farm’s goat milk-based products during the event. FOX43
- ➤ Nearly 200 faith-based organizations and nonprofits, including 24 in the Susquehanna Valley, will get grants to boost security measures; the funding is for planning, training, and technology upgrades. - ➤ WebFX, one of Harrisburg's largest tech firms, received $900,000 in state grants to fund its $10 million renovation of Tracy Mansion on Front Street scheduled for completion in October. - ➤ Gov. Josh Shapiro announced the free Commonwealth Concert Series that will tour PA this summer. - ➤ Construction is underway for PAX-1, a $15 billion data center campus in Cumberland County. The project in Middlesex Township spans 700 acres off Country Club Road, and two weeks of blasting, digging and water work are in progress as the site prepares to add a new PPL substation. WGAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers parking downtown will soon pay a higher fee as the 35-cent transaction charge rises to 99 cents for street and garage spaces; Park Harrisburg (the city's private parking system) said the change will help cover electronic transaction costs. WGAL
- ➤ Over 220 miles of power lines set to run through Perry, Mifflin, and Juniata counties now face state opposition from the PUC + OCA over concerns of unjust rate hikes that could add up to $678 million; local commissioners said they were not informed when plans advanced. Local 21 News
- ➤ This summer, Rabbittransit will launch a new fare system in Harrisburg so riders may pay with a RabbitPay card or a mobile app. In mid-July, street teams will help users sign up and learn the account-based system (designed to secure fares even if a card is lost). TheBurg
- ➤ The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture warns residents to avoid opening unsolicited seed packages and to double bag them for safe reporting via the USDA hotline (800-877-3835) due to potential risks to agriculture and the environment.
