  • Bethesda Mission received a $10,001 donation Friday from the Harrisburg Gujarati Association of Central Pennsylvania to help the nonprofit provide shelter, food and counseling for homeless residents. The extra $1 represents a gesture of good luck in local tradition.  Local 21 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A Dauphin County construction company agreed to pay about $130,000 in back wages to 59 workers after a state investigation found unpaid overtime hours; the Department of Labor & Industry reached the deal as part of returning over $15.7 million in unpaid wages to Pennsylvania workers.  Local 21 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Nearly $6 billion in sports wagers have been placed in Pennsylvania since July, generating $472.5 million for casinos and $160.7 million for the state as March Madness unfolds, according to the PA Gaming Control Board report.  WGAL

  • Over 100 members of the AAA Student Safety Patrol were honored at a ceremony held at Zembo Shrine Auditorium. Students from five local elementary schools enjoyed a circus and pizza party during the celebration.  FOX43
  • A $250,000 grant from the $4.1 million Schools-to-Work initiative will help The Manufacturers’ Association expand its pre-apprenticeship program for high school students in South Central Pennsylvania.   • Hanover Borough Council postponed the vote on stopping water fluoridation after a deadlocked meeting (Mayor Heidi Hormel broke the tie) to allow more time for public review of safety concerns such as lower IQ and fluorosis despite federal endorsement in 1950.  WGAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new AARP report finds that long-term care now costs nearly 50 percent more than it did since 2019, with nursing home and assisted living rates far exceeding older Pennsylvanians' average annual income. AARP calls for policy changes to keep care accessible and prevent financial hardship.  Central Penn Business Journal

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Hersheypark is preparing for its 120th season as roller coaster trains are being lifted onto their tracks by a massive crane next week — opening day is Friday, April 3.  WGAL

  • In February, Pennsylvania home prices rose 3% year-over-year to $287,500 while listings increased 2% to 33,971, and sales jumped 48% from January. Experts say the gradual inventory rise is helping balance the market — giving buyers more choices.  Central Penn Business Journal

  • The Dallastown girls’ basketball team played in its first state championship game on Friday, Mar. 20 at Hershey’s Giant Center, losing 54-33 to Upper Dublin. Head coach Molly Day said the team showed strong effort throughout the contest.  WGAL
